Post subject: Microsoft's Folder Share
As some of us know and many more will soon know, Folder Share is a cool way to syncronize files between multiple computers over the internet. The use FolderShare is basically to create a mirrored image of any important folders and files - like your Favorites, Pictures, and Documents, that way they are the same on all your computers. You can also sharing with friends, co-workers, and family. FolderShare can syncronize files up to 2 GBs in size, and it works on both Mac and PC. There are some limits if you are thinking about backing up your entire computer this way. Although, not to worry you can even access your files through the internet.

But all this is changing, in December 2008 Microsoft is anouncing a new Live Service, "Live Sync". While it will have a familiar interface it will also have many enhancments. You will be able to syncronize up to 20 different folders each having as many as 20,000 files. When Sync releases, FolderShare goes into retirement. For the extreme few running the Professional option, it is being retired with the FolderShare name as well. That means your FolderShare software will stop working and will ask you to upgrade to Sync. Once you do, Sync will automatically rebuild your personal folders.

While the syncronized stuff should automatically convert over, anything that you have shared will not. If you have a lot of shared libraries, you should gete over to the FolderShare website while it's still available and copy all that information. You will need to manually rebuild your shared libraries in Sync.
